Dev journey author.

Hi, I'm Margaret. The Jane of many trades, including writer, editor, college writing instructor, high school English/ESL teacher, and special education teacher . . . turned . . . wait for it . . . wait for it . . . coder!

Welcome to my dev journey.

the beginning

I'm excited—but worried, too. Afterall, I resigned from teaching for this.

Blah, blah, blah. Ya, ya, ya! Cha, cha, cha 💃

the middle

Oh wow. It's a completely foreign language.

Blah, blah, blah. Blah...blah...blah. Blah . . . blah . . . blah . . .

.

The end? . . . uh, no. The reality🤦‍♀️

I, yi, yi!

Alright, so learning to code hasn’t been easy. Did I expect it to be? Honestly, I’m not sure what I expected—but I do know that at times, it felt like my head was going to burst.

All my life, I’ve been told what I can’t do because I’m a girl. Girls can’t play the drums—they play the piano. So, I played drums in middle school and learned piano as an adult. Girls shouldn’t study computers—they should become teachers. So, I became a teacher. Women can’t remodel homes? I remodeled mine—refinished the floors, redid the kitchen and bath, built a deck, laid a patio. All while earning my master’s in English, raising three kids on my own, and caring for my mother after a stroke.

Where am I going with this?

I don’t know if I’m stubborn, fiercely independent, or just plain persistent—but I know I show up, and I get things done.

If I were hiring, I’d want someone like that. Just sayin' . . .😊

Thanks for visiting my portfolio.

Let’s build something together!
